Companion planting is the way to keep pests away from one crop by planting another crop that the pest detests.

Companion planting is also a way to keep the soil healthy. One plant puts a nutrient in the soil that another plant wants to eat. Some plants need very different ph levels in the soil; therefore, they should be planted far away from each other.
